It is extremely important that you do not interact with a service animals when you see them out and about with their owners. This is when they are hard at work completing their job, that is keeping their owner safe. If you see a service animal in their vest alone, you should follow them as their owner may be in danger and they may need help from another human. They are highly trained to know what is best for their owner. 
What Are Service Animals Used For? 
People will generally have a service animal when they have some form of disability. The most commonly known reason to have a service animal is if you are blind, as they will be your eyes. But service animals can also be used for people with epilepsy (those who have fits), people prone to fainting, and sometimes people with severe anxiety. They all serve the purpose of keeping their owner safe, whether this is warning them before they may be fainting or fitting, or being their eyes. 
What Animals Are Service Animals? 
Most commonly, dogs are used as service animals. This is because it is super easy to train dogs to be able to complete tasks and know your warning signs.
